Raye Weigel is a senior journalism and English double major at the University of Maryland. She has been an editorial intern for Washington City Paper in D.C. and Baltimore City Paper. Raye studied abroad in London, where she produced a documentary about women in the spoken poetry scene. As a member of The Writer’s House, a creative writing program at UMD, she also enjoys storytelling through poetry and is published in various literary magazines. @RayeWeigel3

Pressuncuffed.org seeks to encourage and promote rigorous student reporting, scholarly research and debate on the role of, and obstacles to, independent journalism in the United States and abroad. Our website features reporting by University of Maryland students about press freedom in the United States and abroad. It also offers resources to instructors elsewhere who may want to teach classes or hold workshops on this theme.
